Children In Need

Thank you to everyone who has voted in our 2008 Awards so far.  In total 2166 votes were cast in November and we have therefore donated £108.30 to Children in Need!

And we weren't the only ones doing our bit!  All over the country many of you that attend classes were fundraising for Children in Need, just a few of the wonderful stories below, thank you and well done to everyone!

Sing and Sign in Leeds raised £316 (and still counting) by doing a Jessie Cat Raffle, Body Shop at Home party, and dressing up during the Children in Need week. They had some fantastic fancy dress including a sygnet, spider, cat, pink power ranger, and piglet.

Babies, toddlers and preschoolers joined with Jo Jingles all over the country took part in a week long singalong of our favourite songs - culminating in ALL classes singing the same song at 11.00 on BBC Children in Need day - the SINGALONG song - the title track on their CD specifically released to raise money for BBC Children in Need. Local South Essex Jo Jingles classes also collected coins, and a fantastic £1720.34 was raised.

Ducks Friends toddler group, Houghton on the hill raised £40. All money for the session was donated and biscuits and cakes made and sold and eaten!!

Dinky Dancers in Hampshire and Hertfordshire ran special Teddy Bear dance classes and raised £490.02.

pottering about
Pottering About in Oxford made painted pottery with the radio presenters fom BBC Radio Oxfordshire and the pieces were auctioned off raising as fabtastic £2000!

Baby Ballet have been holding events for Children in Need all year and have raised a massive £1521!!!!  They held a show in March called 'Starmakers', a Teddy Bear's Picnic in August (Pudsey lead the toddle waddle around the running track!), donations from each 'Twinkle' (babyballet bear) sold and an adults charity ball in July called 'Tutus and Tiaras' with local celebrities Matthew Wolfenden (emmerdale) and Eorl Crabtree (Huddersfield Giants/Big Daddy's nephew) in attendance.

Mums in Business
A move to a new county sparked Amanda's new business!

Amanda Sing and Sign
"I was a primary teacher in Hertfordshire for a number of years, but gave up when I had Amy. We went to lots of different mums and tots groups and I discovered Sing and Sign. It was absolutely fantastic!! So much fun and Amy picked up the signs brilliantly, which really eased the frustrations. We had a great teacher called Alex who was wonderful, really enthusiastic. We kept going for 3 terms, but towards the end of the 3rd term we moved to Northamptonshire. We both enjoyed the course so much that I actually drove all the way back to Hertfordshire for the last 4 weeks of term!!!!

I looked all over when we got here but could find nothing like Sing and Sign and the nearest class to us was too far really to travel, so after much deliberation I decided to bite the bullet and start up classes of my own.

I have been inundated with interest and the feedback from the first course has been great. As a result I've now adding 2 extra classes and have run school holiday play groups."

Posh Frocks and cheap jewellery!

Sam Willoughby, co-founder of WO4LO, and one of our team, Sarah Keast, attended the Inspire07 business awards evening last month as WO4LO was a finalist for the E-Business of the Year Award.

It was a black tie do, so sequins were required!

We're delighted to report that WO4LO won and Sam gave a speech to 150 people that you can read on our forum and follow the link to see the short video.

The guest speaker was Gerald Ratner of the "cheap" jewellery fame who provided a witty and very funny conclusion to the evening!

This is the 3rd award WO4LO has won this year and we still can't quite believe it.  Thank you to everyone who has become part of WO4LO and helped us achieve so much! x
