Mum Power! Freddies Reading, is the first of a planned nationwide chain of Special Educational Needs schools and all because of one Mum! Like many parents with a child with Special Education Needs, Suzanne Gillies was presented with a choice of schools unsuitable for her son's complex needs. Suzanne's determination to see her son placed in the right learning environment and the desire to address the shortfall in provision for others, gave her the idea for Freddies and now it is a reality. Mums in Business |
This month Lisa tells us how her life has changed!
"Since graduating, I nursed for 7 years in the NHS and after having my second child, quickly realised the long shifts were unsociable and didn't allow me to see my children. Often they were asleep when I left and asleep again when I got home. I felt I needed something that would allow me to be with them.
I attended Jo Jingles classes with my daughter and I would say they were "the highlight of our week" - my daughter rhymed on and on until it was Friday again. I think I enjoyed it as much as her! It was easy to see the benefits of the classes - her speech and co-ordination were phenomenal.
Music has always been an important part of my life. After some enquiries, my local franchisee announced she would be selling part of her area. So here I am, a year on, owning a large franchise of Jo Jingles having bought additional areas and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
I feel so lucky to be with my children, able to drop them to nursery and playgroup and be there again when they finish. Jo Jingles is flexible and enjoyable. I am having so much fun."
