Twinkle Tots Shine as Gold Winners of National Award
Local pre-school activity awarded gold in National scheme
Twinkle Tots, based in Worthing will be announced as gold winners of the ‘Whats On 4 Little Ones 2007 Awards’ as the regional winners are announced today (National Winners will be announced on March 12th 2007). Sponsored by Organix, the pioneering children’s food company, the award programme recognises the best pre-school activities across the UK, as voted for by parents.
Parents have been logging on to the on-line directory - whatson4littleones.co.uk since August 2006 to nominate their favourite local pre-school clubs and activities. Nominees ranged from toddler groups meeting weekly in church halls to highly organised, branded classes offering specific skills and experiences. A short list was then tested by a panel of eight independent volunteer parents and winners were chosen based on their experiences and criteria which included value for money, fun factor, support and socialising for parents/carers and ways in which the activity contributes to a child’s development.
The Best Local Activities were voted as follows-
| Best activities for under 2 years |
| Gold |
Twinkle Tots - Worthing |
| Silver |
MumBaba - classes across Hampshire |
| Bronze |
Esprit Baby Yoga - Watford |
| Best activities for 2 years – 5 years |
| Gold |
Toddle Craft - Alton, Hampshire |
| Silver |
Baby Song – Basingstoke, Hampshire |
| Bronze |
Sticky Kids – Basingstoke, Hampshire |
A special ‘Parents Recommend’ Award also goes to ‘Bumps to Babes Twins and Multiples Groups’ in West Yorkshire. This category was created by the judges in response to the over whelming number of parents who mentioned the group.
Sam Willoughby of What’s On 4 Little Ones said: “Opportunities for the under 5’s to learn and grow have never been more varied and are available in almost every community. Included in the final line up were music and singing, arts & crafts, football skills and story groups”
Local groups are often run by a small legion of dedicated and committed volunteers and carers who ensure that things run smoothly to the benefit of both the parents and their little ones.
Nessie Gillen from Twinkle Tots said:
“I am over the moon, that Twinkle Tots has won the Gold award for local activities. It is so refreshing to be recognised for all the hard work that goes into each class and it is extremely rewarding to know that mums and tots are enjoying the classes. I feel very proud, and would like to thank Whatsonforlittleones for thinking of us local clubs and classes, and very honoured to be involved with such an exciting new website, that really does think of everybody that puts their hearts into working with little ones.”
