Have a Frugal February Half Term
The February half term is fast approaching and parents up and down the country will be confronted with the task of keeping the kids busy for a whole week. Not only is it hard thinking of fun, educational and active activities to keep the little ones occupied but you’ve also got to think about your bank balance. Here are some frugal ideas to help make the February half term go smoothly…
Use Vouchers for Attractions
No doubt the kids will want to visit the most expensive attractions, but there is a way to visit them without breaking the bank. Moneysupermarket.com have a range of discounts available to make half term cheaper, like Alton Towers Vouchers and discounts on entry to Chester Zoo, the Sea life Centre and many more.
Host a Sleepover
For a cheap and cheerful night in, invite one of your child’s friends to stay over. Supply a few films, some popcorn and a few sleeping bags/duvets and the kids will entertain themselves for the night. This is not only a fun and frugal way to entertain the little ones but it could also result in giving you some peace!
Have a Crafts Day
Most kids love to get creative, so clear your kitchen table and supply some crayons, watercolours, card, glitter (if you’re brave enough!) and unleash their creative sides. Ask them to make something specific, like a Birthday card for a relative or a picture for their grandparents. Giving them a project will keep their minds active and can be great fun.
Go Hiking/Cycling
If you want to keep the kids active, dig out the walking boots or bikes from the back of the shed and put them to use. The UK has 15 National Trails that could be put to use and are a great excuse to get back to nature. Alternatively, head down to the beach or your nearest family-friendly forest. Let the kids do a spot of foraging and perhaps pack a picnic. This is a great activity for getting some exercise as well as taking advantage of what the UK has to offer.
