Becoming a Sponsor

The WO4 Awards is a unique and prestigious event that promotes and provides recognition of excellence in activities for children across the UK.

WO4 organises these awards to improve the standard of activities, encourage good practice, reward innovation and raise awareness of the activities for children and the people running them.

We hope that by encouraging, rewarding and raising the profile of the best activities and the outstanding individuals involved, that these services will improve and lead to more parents and children being able to benefit.

We would like to work with you to help this happen.

Why Sponsor the 2010 WO4 Awards?

We would like to work with organisations who want to:

  • reach parents of children from babies to 12 years old across the UK
  • support voluntary and charity groups, schools and colleges as well as local SME business communities
  • increase and enhance their profile within these communities
  • target specific groups within these communities to help make a difference to them
  • be associated with promoting innovation, best practice and accessibility at all levels

The awards are a high profile event enjoying wide-ranging promotion and media coverage both on-line and off-line.

The ceremony itself provides an opportunity to interact with key figures from many other businesses and individuals working with parents and their children plus exhibit at a reduced rate (or for free as Platinum and Gold sponsors) at a key regional baby show.

This means that you can use your involvement with the awards to promote your company name and image in front of a wide audience with a very positive message.

Background

Established in 2006, What's On 4 Ltd was founded by Sam Willoughby with the launch of www.whatson4littleones.co.uk sponsored by Organix, followed by www.whatson4schoolkids.co.uk sponsored by Whole Earth Foods and www.whatson4kidsparties.co.uk in 2008.  In July 2009 we purchased the established website www.mumandworking.co.uk

All 4 websites provide parents with a unique source of local and national information with supporting advice and ideas.

Sam was named Practical Parenting magazine's Business Parent of the Year in 2007 and the business and websites also boast several other awards.

Our websites attract over 40,000 visitors from across the UK every month (as at Feb 2009 with growth projected at 50% within the next 12 months to 60,000 visitors a month) and over 20,000 parents subscribe to the newsletters.

That's well over 1.5 million page views a year!

The business and websites are featured regularly in national publications and local and regional media.

Much of this success is down the award schemes run by the websites to recognise the best activities for children across the UK.

WO4LO has run an award scheme to recognise the best activities for the under 5s across the UK for 3 years. And we have just completed the first year of a similar award scheme for primary school kids activities on WO4SK.

Both schemes operate in the same way: on-line nominations followed by on-line voting for some awards alongside judging for others.

The WO4LO scheme has grown in 3 years and for 2009 we have had over 1500 nominations and over 14,000 votes (more than 3 times more than 2008). Prima Baby and Pregnancy magazine are our media partner, Organix the awards sponsor and Mini IQ the prize sponsor. The WO4LO winners were announced live on-air on mybabyradio.com. There are 10 awards covering the commercial groups and community groups and awards for the individuals running them. There is also an Organix Food Hero Award.

The WO4SK scheme launched in 2009 with 3 awards, Best National, Best Local and Most Outstanding Activity Leader. Over 500 votes were cast.

Just some of the titles we have received coverage on The Times, Daily Record, Mother & Baby magazine, Practical Parenting magazine, Prima Baby & Pregnancy magazine, I'm Pregnant magazine, Pregnancy, Baby and You, Your Family magazine, My Child magazine, Nursery World and Real People magazine.  See our news pages for more.

Plus hundreds of features in local and regional media including BBC Radio Berkshire, BBC Southern Counties and ITV Meridian News.

WO4 2010 Awards

For 2010 the awards will be combined for all 3 of our websites

The awards will be branded the "What's On 4 2010 Awards" and all 3 sites will carry the same copy and on-line nomination/voting forms.

This means that nominating and voting can be done on any of our websites.

And there will also be a single WO4 2010 Awards ceremony to announce the winners held at the Baby Expo - Brighton in June 2010 and hosted by Phil Gallagher from CBeebies Mr Maker!

Baby Expo - Brighton 2008 attracted nearly 4000 visitors and was opened by Sally Gunnell and Bill and Ben CBEEBIES characters, read more here.

Prima Baby and Pregnancy (circulation of 51,766 (ABC Jan-Jun 08) and readership of 135,000 (NRS Jul 07- Jun 08) are supporting us again for our 2010 awards.  And www.mybabyradio.com have also confirmed as our audio partner!

There will be a single stream of promotion for the awards scheme and awards ceremony including:

O Press releases at each stage of the awards cycle to national media.  See press release examples, nominations, voting and winners.  Plus joint press releases with the Baby Expo - Brighton.

O Monthly copy on our WO$ newsletter reaching over 20,000 subscribers.  See an example

O Nominees and winners cascade at a local level by issuing template press releases to local classes and clubs this results in many hundreds of local news stories.  Examples of local coverage from our 2008 Awards
