Numberjacks at Home!
 If you love Numberjacks as much as Alice (aged 4) then you will know how excited she was to receive a one of the new plush Numberjack toys to try out!
Alice now has "number 3" in bright pink as a permanent fixture on her bed. The TV show characters helped Alice learn her numbers and spotting the "Numberjacks" on car journeys was her favourite game for a long while.

Meet mr. Ray!
Have you heard of mr. Ray? Nope, us neither. But we already love him! And one lucky person can win a mr. Ray CD by entering this competition.
Mr.Ray was Meatloaf's guitarist and keyboard player and also played with Bruce Springsteen before he began writing songs about rainbows and dinosaurs for children.
 In 1994, his wife, who was part-timing at a pre-school, asked Ray to come in and perform some songs for the kids. In no time, he became known as "mr. RAY," clad in his trademark black glasses, holding an eye-catching, colourfully-stickered guitar. The kids were quickly hooked. Singing about friendship, dinosaurs and rainbows never sounded so cool before. It was such a success that parents everywhere started begging him to record these songs for those long car rides. mr. RAY wrote and co-produced his own album entitled, "START DREAMING!" It was released in April 2001.
 And mr. Ray's biggest critic is his own 4 year old daughter, "I have a built-in song jury in the person of my almost 4-year old, Layla. There's one line that kids inevitably say after I play them a song for the first time if they like it : "Do it again!" I don't hear that line if they don't dig it. Layla is no exception." Mums in Business |
This month we feature Julie's story and hear how her business is working around her family.
I'm 40 something and married with two boys. I've worked in marketing all my life, for 17 years at Boots and more recently for a small publishing company. This gave me much more of an opportunity to find creative ways to maximize low budgets. I realized the potential of PR, reciprocal deals and email marketing to mention a few. I decided I'd take my 20 plus years of marketing experience and offer my services to other local companies and SMEs. Unlike a consultant who offers advice or guidance, I am able to provide a hands-on service and the flexibility for 'task specific' help. What's more clients only pay for marketing when they need it and don't have to hire a new employee or an agency.
I started working for myself in April 2008 and so far so good. Before I began I networked liked mad and as a result had some clients 'on my books' to start with. Since then, networking has continued to play a crucial role, seizing opportunities when they present themselves resulting in new business for me.
I really enjoy the variety my work offers me and of course the flexibility is fantastic too. I've been able to offer a days work for a small start up company that wanted innovative, low /nil cost marketing ideas, through to ongoing monthly PR support for an online baby retailer that so far has resulted in lots of PR including several national newspapers and magazines.
